Liquid Glass also allows you to pick Light or Dark appearances, so experimenting to find your ideal setting is encouraged.
Further Customization and Beta Updates
Apple continues listening to feedback from users. In the iOS 26.2 beta, users can also customize the Liquid Glass effect on the Lock Screen, including a slider to adjust the transparency of the clock, going beyond the two options in iOS 26.1. It remains to be seen if these features will make it to the public release.
How to Add a Tint to Liquid Glass
- One of the highlights of iOS 26.1 is the ability to add a tint to Liquid Glass, which boosts readability for
many users. To enable this option: - Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size.
- Disable Increase Contrast and Reduce Transparency.
If these features are active, iOS will prompt you to turn them off before you can enable Liquid Glass Tint.
- Once ready:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Display & Brightness.
- Tap Liquid Glass.
- Choose either Clear or Tinted.
The Clear setting provides the familiar transparent look, while Tinted increases contrast and opacity, improving readability. Only these two appearance options are available for now, but they’re easy to switch. You can also toggle between Light and Dark styles, offering more flexibility.
