The popular fitness app The Outsiders, a favorite among serious athletes, is now available on Apple Watch. With this launch, developer Gentler Stories brings its distinctive training insights directly to Apple’s smartwatch ecosystem after a successful 45-day testing period.
“The Apple Watch app marks the next step in our development, the point where the product feels mature enough to stand next to other fitness apps in its niche,” said Katarina Lotrič, Co-founder and CEO of Gentler Stories. “We built this app for athletes who don’t need motivation; what they need is meaningful insight into how training-ready they are. Seeing early adopters echo the feedback of our original users tells us we’re moving in the right direction.”
What The Outsiders Adds to Apple Watch
Unlike Gentler Stories’ Gentler Streak app, which focuses on tracking effort in real time, The Outsiders centers on one key metric: Training Readiness. This feature helps athletes understand how prepared their body is for the next session, taking into account recovery, fatigue, and overall training load.
The app analyzes data from the past week, including:
- 7-day Training Load Ratio
- 7-night Sleeping Heart Rate
- 7-night Heart Rate Variability
- 7-night Wrist Temperature
- 7-night Respiratory Rate
- 7-night Blood Oxygen levels
- Recent sleep patterns
Together, these metrics offer a holistic picture of an athlete’s recovery and performance capacity.
Coming Soon
An upcoming update will introduce a Training Readiness complication, allowing users to see their readiness at a glance—before or after a workout.
The Outsiders is free to download on the App Store, with full access available through a subscription model: $5.99 per month, $39.99 per year, or a $119.99 lifetime plan.
