Combining the mythic depth of God of War with the expansive exploration and dynamic combat reminiscent of Ghost of Yōtei, the upcoming action RPG Longevity: Yin and Yang is already turning heads.
Developed by Chinese studio 11 Games and slated for release next year, this ambitious project blends Chinese mythology, cinematic storytelling, and visceral action to deliver what could be the next major AAA title emerging from the East.
Set during the Ming Dynasty, Longevity: Yin and Yang follows a Jinyiwei — an imperial secret agent — on a perilous mission to uncover the elusive secret of immortality. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game showcases stunning visuals and deeply atmospheric environments, from windswept deserts to ancient temples carved with centuries of history. Its first gameplay trailer highlights breathtaking scenery, nuanced performances, and relentless, high-octane combat.
Inspired by history and legend
Drawing from real historical figures and rich Chinese mythology, the narrative even references Emperor Jiajing, known for his lifelong obsession with immortality. Players will trace his mythic journey through a world where political intrigue collides with the supernatural, battling foes ranging from human adversaries such as Wajin (Japanese pirates) to formidable entities from the spirit realm.
This fusion of history, folklore, and fantasy gives Longevity: Yin and Yang a uniquely grounded yet otherworldly tone — a balance that could position it alongside genre leaders like Black Myth: Wukong.
A test of skill and rhythm
Beyond its narrative depth, the game’s combat system rewards precision and timing. Players must learn to chain dodges, counters, and combos seamlessly. Perfectly timed dodges accumulate “Void,” a resource that can be unleashed as devastating “Substance” attacks — a rhythm that rewards mastery over mere button-mashing.
For players drawn to the narrative weight and exploration of God of War but craving a greater challenge, Longevity: Yin and Yang promises a richly layered experience.
As anticipation builds, all eyes are on 11 Games to see whether this title can truly deliver a myth reborn — and stand proudly among the greats when it launches on PC next year.
