Apple has officially released macOS Tahoe 26.1 to Mac users, nearly two months after the debut of macOS Tahoe. This update likely marks one of the last major software cycles for Intel-based Macs, as Apple prepares for a complete transition to Apple Silicon within the next year. Despite the shift, the company continues to refine and enhance the macOS experience for all users.
Liquid Glass tweaks come to macOS Tahoe 26.1
One of the standout features of macOS Tahoe 26.1 is the broader rollout of Apple Intelligence. The platform now supports eight additional languages: Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Portuguese (Portugal), and Chinese (Traditional). This expansion allows more users worldwide to interact with Apple’s AI-powered tools in their native languages.
macOS Tahoe 26.1 also introduces AutoMix over AirPlay for Apple Music subscribers. Previously missing from the initial release, this update lets users enjoy seamless crossfades and DJ-like transitions even while streaming via AirPlay.
The update further refines the striking Liquid Glass interface introduced with the original macOS Tahoe. While users praised its modern and fluid design, some reported readability issues. In response, Apple now provides a new option to toggle between the default transparent look and a tinted mode that increases opacity for better visibility across apps and notifications.
Enhanced FaceTime audio quality in low-bandwidth environments
New communication safety and web content filters that automatically apply to accounts for users aged 13–17, subject to local regulations
Broader stability enhancements and security updates
Apple has also released iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and visionOS 26.1 alongside this macOS update. Additional details and hidden features are expected to surface as users explore these releases in the coming days.
