Your Free Google Gemini Nano Banana Pro Access Is Now More Limited

Google has adjusted usage limits for its AI tools, citing high demand for some of its most popular features. The Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro models, both less than two weeks old, are now more restricted for free-tier users than they were at launch.

Changes to Daily Prompt Limits

Free users of Gemini AI can now create only two image prompts per day with Nano Banana Pro. Previously, the limit was three images daily. According to Google, these adjustments were made to manage heavy demand for image generation and editing tools.

If you exceed your Nano Banana Pro usage limit, the platform will automatically revert to the standard Nano Banana model, also known as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Google notes that these limits may change frequently and reset every 24 hours. This may lead to further reductions, potentially allowing just one prompt per day, or slight increases depending on system load.

Gemini 3 Access Adjustments

The Gemini 3 model has also seen changes to its daily usage caps. Although Google previously allowed up to five prompts a day, the company’s recent update now describes access as “basic” with limits that may “change frequently.” While the exact cap isn’t specified, it’s expected to be lower than before.

For casual users, it’s recommended to use Gemini early in the day to make the most of daily prompt allowances before hitting the limit.

Paid Users Remain Unaffected

Those subscribed to Google’s premium AI tiers still enjoy full access with no reductions in prompts or credits.

  • AI Pro: Up to 100 Gemini 3 prompts and 100 Nano Banana Pro image generation credits daily.
  • AI Ultra: Up to 500 Gemini 3 prompts and 1,000 Nano Banana Pro image generations daily.

As demand continues to grow, Google’s evolving restrictions suggest a push toward its paid AI services, offering more stable and higher-capacity access than the free tier.
