There are two apps I almost always install on any new Android device: Google Keep and Google Tasks. Google Keep is a simple yet powerful note-taking app, while Google Tasks helps me stay organized by managing my to-do lists effectively. Although both apps come from Google, they haven’t always worked smoothly together—until now.
Google first announced these improvements in April 2024, but the rollout has taken some time to reach most users. The good news is that Google has committed to a rapid release schedule, promising to complete the update within 15 days starting from October 13.
So, what’s new? Google Keep and Google Tasks will now sync much more seamlessly. Reminders set in Keep will automatically appear in Google Tasks and across Google Calendar. This integration is a significant upgrade for users of both apps, as it eliminates the hassle of switching between them to manage reminders and tasks.
Google’s Ecosystem Gets Stronger
This change is another step toward making Google’s suite of apps work better together—a priority as Google continues to expand Gemini, its AI-powered assistant, across more apps and devices. While Gemini hasn’t yet played a big role in Tasks or Keep, it’s already integrated into Google Calendar and is set to debut on Google TV soon.
To try this for yourself, update both Google Keep and Google Tasks from the Play Store. If the new features haven’t appeared on your device yet, don’t worry—the rollout is still in progress. If your Google account is managed through Workspace, check with your administrator to ensure that the new permissions are enabled.
As a precaution, it’s also a good idea to update your Google account password since Gmail-related security scams have been circulating lately, aiming to compromise user accounts.
This update makes managing notes, to-dos, and reminders more streamlined and efficient, enhancing productivity across Google’s growing app ecosystem.
