After a month of beta testing, Apple is now releasing iPadOS 26.1 to all iPad users. This update enhances iPadOS with improved multitasking features, expanded Apple Intelligence languages, an enhanced Liquid Glass experience, and fixes for several bugs. It is recommended to update promptly to protect your device from bugs and vulnerabilities in older software.
With iPadOS 26, Apple introduced a new window tiling system featuring Mac-like menus and apps running actively in the background. iPadOS 26.1 further expands these capabilities by introducing a new Slide Over experience, making it easier to keep a smaller app window always in front while using another app fully in the background. This feature is especially useful for using the Apple Pencil for drawing or researching with ChatGPT, among other uses. iPadOS 26.1 shares some new features with iOS 26.1.
iPadOS 26.1 adds more languages to Apple Intelligence
Following Apple’s promise to expand its Apple Intelligence platform, iPadOS 26.1 now supports Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Portuguese (Portugal), and Chinese (Traditional). For iPhone users, Live Translation is now available with AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro 3 in Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Chinese.
Additionally, iPadOS 26.1 features a revamped Apple TV app icon. Recently, Apple announced that the Apple TV+ streaming service will be rebranded as Apple TV, coinciding with Apple becoming the official streaming partner of Formula 1 in the U.S.
Users can also expect improvements to Liquid Glass and various bug fixes. However, some iOS 26.1 features, like swiping the Apple Music mini player to switch songs or the Slide to Stop alarm function, are not included in iPadOS 26.1. Alongside these updates, users can also download macOS Tahoe 26.1, watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and visionOS 26.1.
