The second week of October is underway, yet Google has not rolled out this month’s security patch for compatible Pixel devices. While the update is expected imminently, Verizon has already leaked the changelog for the upcoming build.
According to Verizon (via 9to5Google), the October update for Pixel phones includes the September 2025 security patch. The build numbers are BP3A.251005.004.B1 for the Pixel 7, 8, and 9 series, and BD3A.251005.003.W3 for the Pixel 10. The release notes highlight two user interface fixes affecting all Pixel models:
- Resolved an issue causing a semi-transparent background to appear when launching the camera.
- Fixed a system crash triggered when starting or stopping casting through the Media Output Switcher.
Several device-specific fixes are included as well. On the Pixel 9 and 10 series, the update fixes the flashlight status not showing in the At a Glance widget. For the Pixel 7, the update addresses a display and graphics glitch that, under certain conditions, caused screen flickering or shutdowns.
This October update is relatively minor, with no major new features. The next big Android 16 QPR2 Feature Drop is scheduled for December. This follows the significant changes introduced in the September update, including Material 3 Expressive.
Some Pixel 10 users, frustrated by the device’s underwhelming GPU performance in benchmarks and gaming, may find this update underwhelming. While a complete fix likely won’t arrive until Android 16 QPR2 or later, there is hope Google might improve GPU performance by updating the outdated PowerVR drivers, a move the company has made in the past.
Though an official release date from Google is pending, Verizon’s publication of the patch notes strongly suggests the October update will go live very soon, potentially later today (October 8).
