Apple will mark its 50th anniversary in 2026, and according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may have a landmark year planned. In his latest report, Gurman outlines a lineup of upcoming products that reflect Apple’s ambition to redefine both hardware and software as it enters its sixth decade.
Big Plans for 2026
Among the most anticipated developments is a revamped Siri powered by Apple’s custom Gemini model, designed to deliver smarter, more context-aware conversations. On the hardware front, speculation points to the debut of two entirely new product types: a foldable iPhone and Apple’s first smart glasses. However, Gurman notes that only the foldable iPhone may be ready for commercial release next year.
Perhaps even more intriguingly, Apple is rumored to be preparing a major MacBook Pro redesign for late 2026—a model that could introduce groundbreaking technologies not yet seen in the Mac lineup.
A Look Ahead to the M6 MacBook Pro
This isn’t the first time Gurman has mentioned Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro, which will reportedly be powered by the M6 chip. The timing, however, raises questions. The current M5 MacBook Pro line is still in rollout mode, with base M5 models already available but the higher-end M5 Pro and M5 Max variants not expected until 2026. That timeline could make a late-2026 M6 debut seem ambitious—unless Apple chooses to accelerate development to make a statement during its anniversary year.
A Redesigned Chassis and OLED Display
According to Gurman, the M6 MacBook Pro could launch “as early as the tail end of 2026,” meaning a 2027 debut remains possible. The upgrade would mark the MacBook Pro’s first major design overhaul since 2021. Central to the redesign is the introduction of OLED displays, aligning the laptop’s screen technology with that of the iPhone and iPad.
Gurman says the M6 Pro and M6 Max models will feature a thinner chassis, touchscreen functionality, and “iPhone-style” OLED panels. The laptops, known internally as “K114” and “K116,” will also include reinforced hinges to improve stability when interacting with the touchscreen. Another change is a new hole‑punch camera design, replacing the notch found on current models, though users should not expect Face ID support just yet.
The Broader Mac Roadmap
Beyond the MacBook Pro, Apple’s 2026 plans include an updated M5 MacBook Air, expected in the first half of the year. The M5-powered Mac mini and Mac Studio are also slated for release in 2026, while an OLED MacBook Air is reportedly in development for a potential 2028 debut.
With the company entering its 50th year, Apple’s product roadmap suggests a future built on innovation that bridges usability and design—hallmarks that have defined its half-century legacy.
