Apple Has Indefinitely Delayed The iPhone Air 2, Reports Claim

Apple may have quietly delayed the launch of the upcoming iPhone Air 2, according to new reports from The Information. The publication cites three people involved in the project, claiming that Apple has informed engineers and certain suppliers that the next iPhone Air has been pulled from all upcoming schedules with no new release date in place.

The decision, if accurate, suggests a possible shift in Apple’s strategy for its mid-tier iPhone lineup. The original iPhone Air earned praise for its improved repairability and sleek design but was also criticized for being a compromise—lacking some flagship features found in the larger and more powerful iPhone 17 Pro.

Despite its limitations, the iPhone Air appealed to users who preferred a thinner, lighter device without the bulk or cost of a Pro model. The anticipated iPhone Air 2 was rumored to refine that concept even further, offering a lighter chassis, dual-camera setup, and an upgraded cooling system. Some insiders also mentioned plans to boost battery life, one of the biggest drawbacks of the first-generation Air.

However, according to the latest information, the project may have been paused due to disappointing sales of the original iPhone Air. Foxconn, one of Apple’s key manufacturing partners, has reportedly dismantled most of its production lines for the device, keeping just one and a half lines active.

This alleged delay comes as Apple prepares for the launch of its first foldable iPhone, which is expected sometime next year. Prioritizing that major release could explain why the iPhone Air 2 has been placed on hold. Samsung followed a similar path recently, putting the Galaxy Edge series on pause as it refocused investment into more successful product lines.

While Apple has not commented publicly on the matter, the reported suspension of the iPhone Air 2 raises questions about the company’s long-term design roadmap and whether the dream of a thinner, more minimalist iPhone will live on.
