One of the most eye-catching features in One UI is Adaptive Clock, which dynamically wraps the lockscreen clock around the subject in your wallpaper. Originally available via the Good Lock module LockStar, it became widely accessible with One UI 8 and is set for further improvements in One UI 8.5.
Issues with Adaptive Clock
Recently, users have reported that Adaptive Clock sometimes fails to work correctly. Instead of aligning with the outlines of heads or bodies, it may incorrectly overlay faces or pets. This problem appeared after a recent software update.
Samsung’s Fix for the Issue
Samsung has provided a troubleshooting solution through a support page. The recommended fix is to update the LockStar module to the latest version (v7.0.01.10) using the Good Lock app:
- Open Good Lock and find the LockStar module
- Tap the three-dot menu and select About to check the version
- Update if necessary
You can also check for updates in the Galaxy Store, though the version listed there might be outdated (6.1), possibly due to an error.
Why the Fix Works
Adaptive Clock is natively part of One UI 8 and should function without LockStar. However, installing LockStar not only resolves the issue but also unlocks additional lockscreen customization options, making it a worthwhile upgrade.
