Google Maps now offers a power-saving mode that extends battery life by up to four hours during navigation on Pixel 10 devices. This feature switches to a simplified black-and-white interface to reduce power consumption on long trips.
Exclusive to Pixel 10 Series
The mode rolled out as part of the November Pixel Feature Drop and is available only on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold phones. Google has not confirmed plans to expand it to other devices.
Key Features and Limitations
The low-power mode displays essential navigation details like current location, next turn, trip duration, remaining distance, and estimated arrival time. Advanced features such as speed display, police alerts, and traffic updates are disabled to save battery.
- Uses monochrome design with reduced brightness and refresh rate
- Works only in portrait orientation for driving navigation
- Not available for walking, biking, or public transit
How to Activate and Disable
Power saving mode activates by default after updating. Start navigation in Google Maps, then press the power button to enter the mode with the screen off; press again to return to full color.
To disable, tap your profile picture in Maps, go to Settings > Navigation > Driving options, and toggle off Power saving mode. The feature automatically exits upon reaching your destination [web:1][web:2][web:5].
