iOS 26.2 Beta 2 Now Available To Developers With More Changes And Fixes

0

Expected for release by mid-December, Apple is actively testing the iOS 26.2 update with its second beta version. While the full scope of new features in this build is still being explored, it is evident that Apple is refining the initial functions introduced in the prior beta and introducing additional enhancements and bug fixes.

One notable update is the expansion of Live Translation to the European Union within iOS 26.2. This feature, initially delayed due to complications with the Digital Markets Act, is set to roll out to EU users in December. Live Translation enables AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4 users paired with an iPhone 15 Pro or later to hear real-time translations of spoken language and respond vocally in their own language, with translated text displayed on the iPhone screen. This significant feature in iOS 26 will now be accessible to a broader audience, although it represents only one element of the comprehensive iOS 26.2 beta update.

Features and Improvements in iOS 26.2 Beta

In addition to Live Translation for European users, iOS 26.2 enhances the integration between Reminders and Clock apps by allowing users to set an alarm coinciding with a reminder. The Sleep Score feature, introduced in iOS 26 and watchOS 26, has been updated to change the highest sleep rating from “Excellent” to “Very High” and includes refined guidance for better sleep assessment.

The Freeform app now supports Tables, adding flexibility to user organization and planning. The Lock Screen clock customization has been expanded to offer transparent or frosty visual styles, allowing users to choose the look that suits their preference. Additionally, Apple is implementing a PIN feature for AirDrop to enhance security during file sharing. This enhancement allows users to maintain a connection with another device for up to 30 days without needing to enable the “Everyone for 10 Minutes” option repeatedly.

This AirDrop security upgrade could address interoperability regulations Apple’s facing in Europe. Earlier code in the iOS 26.1 beta hinted at support for notifications on third-party smartwatches, demonstrating ongoing efforts to enhance cross-device compatibility.

Alongside iOS 26.2 beta 2, Apple is simultaneously releasing beta updates for iPadOS 26.2, macOS Tahoe 26.2, watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2, marking a broad ecosystem update across its platforms.
