Elden Ring: Nightreign has been quietly evolving over the past six months, steadily refining its world and gameplay while fans wait (not so patiently) for FromSoftware’s next big project — and yes, we’re all still hoping it’s Bloodborne 2.
The next major update, The Forsaken Hollows, has just been announced, promising a mix of nostalgia and fresh content. Expect returning bosses from other FromSoftware titles, new playable characters, expanded events, and major improvements aimed at deepening replayability.
On the developer’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, they confirmed both the new DLC and its release date with the following ominous statement:
“In our war against the Night, every battle left a scar. These wounds were given will. A foul life, born of cast-away souls. Steel your resolve, Nightfarers. This hunt must be seen to its end. The Forsaken Hollows launches on December 4, 2025.”
That means players won’t have to wait long before diving back into the dark.
Knight Artorias Joins the Fray
After countless fan requests, the legendary Knight Artorias is finally entering Nightreign. Originally introduced in the Artorias of the Abyss DLC for the first Dark Souls, Artorias remains one of FromSoftware’s most iconic and tragic figures. His arrival in Nightreign feels like a perfect fit — a seamless bridge between eras of FromSoftware’s world design.
Artorias won’t be alone. The Dancing Lion from Shadow of the Erdtree and a fearsome new field boss, the Gladius Nightlord, will also make their appearance. Each promises to reshape combat encounters with their unique mechanics and lore connections.
Meet the New Playable Characters
Two new heroes join the roster: the Scholar and the Undertaker.
- The Scholar focuses on manipulating the arcane, leveraging what the developers describe as “battlefield
observation” to gain powerful advantages mid-fight. - The Undertaker, true to their name, channels divine might and physical prowess to send foes to their final rest.
Both characters look to expand the strategic depth and build diversity that Nightreign players already love.
Explore the Great Hollow
The final major addition in The Forsaken Hollows is the Great Hollow — a colossal underground expanse buried beneath Limveld. It’s said to contain lost temples, forgotten ruins, and the remains of an ancient civilization. Details are sparse, but the setting sounds ripe for exploration and high-stakes boss encounters.
The Forsaken Hollows DLC launches December 4, 2025, just in time for the holidays — the perfect excuse to return to the shadows and face the Night once more.
