After confirming plans to release the update next month, Apple has officially started beta testing iOS 26.2. The update already shows several exciting new features in development.
Among the most significant additions, iOS 26.2 beta 1 introduces Live Translation support for users in the European Union. Previously delayed due to concerns over the EU’s Digital Markets Act, Apple now appears to have resolved these issues and enabled this feature for European Apple Accounts.
Additionally, the Clock app’s Alarms section continues to evolve. Building on last update’s Slide to Stop feature, iOS 26.2 beta 1 integrates alarms with the Reminders app. This means users can set an alarm directly when creating or editing a reminder, making task management more flexible and effective.
Apple is also enhancing its Sleep Score feature introduced in iOS 26 and watchOS 26. With this beta, the top sleep rating has changed from “Excellent” to “Very High” for users who wear their Apple Watch while sleeping. The score ranges have been adjusted to provide more meaningful and accurate sleep insights.
Security improvements are in the works too. According to reports, Apple is developing a PIN feature for AirDrop, allowing users to protect sharing sessions with a PIN code. This would enable longer lasting device connections (up to 30 days) without permanently enabling “Everyone” mode, adding a much-needed layer of privacy and control.
Visual customization gets a boost with new options in the Liquid Glass lock screen effect. Users can now fine-tune the clock’s appearance with a slider, adjusting its clarity from very clear to frosted.
Moreover, Apple is introducing tables in the Freeform app, expanding its versatility for visual organization and note-taking.
To summarize, iOS 26.2 beta 1 is shaping up to be a meaningful update, bringing enhanced translation, smarter alarms, better sleep tracking, improved security, and more personalized aesthetics to iPhone users. Stay tuned as more features may emerge throughout the beta cycle.
