Uncharted fans seem more united than ever over the idea of a full remake of the original trilogy.
Even after nearly eight years since the last new entry, the Uncharted series remains one of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises. While rumors of Uncharted 5 have surfaced several times in recent years, it’s the possibility of remakes for the original three games that has the fan community buzzing with enthusiasm.
“Do you guys think Naughty Dog should release the whole Uncharted series using the new The Last of Us engine?” one fan asked on the Uncharted subreddit, referencing the 2022 remake of The Last of Us Part I.
“I would absolutely cry,” another replied. “Experiencing the entire saga with rebuilt visuals would be incredible. I wouldn’t leave my house for a year, honestly.”
Others echoed that sentiment, particularly regarding the first game. “Uncharted 1 really needs a remake, in my opinion. It just hasn’t aged as well as the others,” one player wrote — and many agreed.
Still, not everyone is on board. Some fans would rather see Naughty Dog focus on new stories instead of reimagining old ones.
“I’d much rather they make another short spin-off like Lost Legacy,” said one commenter. Another added, “I actually prefer the slightly stylized look and vibrant colors of the PS3 games over the duller realism of newer Naughty Dog titles.”
The original Uncharted trilogy — Drake’s Fortune (2007), Among Thieves (2009), and Drake’s Deception (2011) — first released on PlayStation 3 and was later remastered by Bluepoint Games in 2015 as The Nathan Drake Collection for PS4. The collection is still playable on PS5 via backward compatibility.
In contrast, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy received native PS5 and PC remasters in 2022, leaving the original trilogy as the only part of the saga unavailable on PC. That absence is something fans are eager to see corrected.
Bringing these early adventures to PC would not only allow new players to experience Nathan Drake’s full journey but also provide vital story context for Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, both of which reference key characters and events from the earlier titles.
For now, all fans can do is hope that Sony and Naughty Dog are listening. A modernized return to where Uncharted began feels long overdue — and judging by the community’s passion, it’d be a guaranteed treasure.
